Santa Paws is Coming!

Image
Mom has been bringing lots of storage totes home from mini storage and decorating the house. She said Christmas is coming and so is Santa Paws. She explained the whole thing to me but I liked the part about Santa Paws bringing me new toys on Christmas Day. I never had a Christmas stocking before so mom bought me this one. When she read it to me I was shocked,,I didn't think I had been naughty. Mom laughed, gave me lots of kisses and told me I was the best girl ever, no I hadn't been naughty, but the stocking was just too cute to pass up. Mom's boss' daughter gave her this Advent Calendar for dogs. Mom explained it to me. What I really understand is the treats I get each day are super tasty.                                                                                       ...

Hayesville, North Carolina Part 2

Image
It is now Columbus Day, Monday, October 12th, our last day in North Carolina before heading back home. After breakfast mom got on her hiking boots and packed the backpack with bottled water and snack for both of us. She loaded me into the back seat of the truck and off we went. Today's destination, Tallulah Gorge in Georgia. Mom has wanted to go there for awhile and this was her day. This was the view from the Visitor's Center before we headed down the North Rim Overlook Trail.    This was our first look down into the gorge. After more rain overnight the river was really rushing. The views were great most of the time. Mom's camera has a 40x zoom and she got this photo of the south Rim Overlook Trail. She told me we would get there later on. We saw this near one of the overlooks. It was used by some guy who did a tightrope walk across the gorge. Mom read this to me. It sounds like this was pretty impressive to see. Near the tower we stopped at another overlook, I was not ...

Hayesville, North Carolina, Part 1

Shortly after we got back from our Sarasota weekend mom started doing it again. She started making lists, packing her coffee and kibble for me. Of course I got stressed out and had a bout of stress colitis. Mom wasn't happy but she knew it could be fixed. She started giving the stuff Dr. Lee prescribed for me and it calmed me down and things got back to normal,,,,sort of.  When we left our home in Jacksonville it was beautiful, we saw a great sunrise as we headed north on I-95. Once we turned onto I-16 in Georgia it was a different story.  Fog, lots and lots of fog. Awhile later when we got off to take the back roads to the cabin the sun came out and mom could actually see where she was going. She pointed out the beautiful farm houses, the cattle ranches, the pecan farms, the chicken farms. I didn't care, I hadn't eaten my breakfast and my tummy was upset. Mom kept stopping to get me some water and try to get me to eat a cookie but being the stubborn girl I am I refused all...

Labor Day Weekend in Sarasota, Florida

Image
Mom has been a slacker lately and that is why this blog post is late being posted,,sorry. Anyway, right before Labor Day weekend mom traded in her Hyundai Tucson and got a Nissan Frontier, Crew Cab 4-wheel drive pickup. This was the first time I got to ride in her new truck.  I found it very comfortable riding in the back seat. Mom got this sling thing that kept me from being able to crawl between the front seats, and is waterproof to protect her seats. Once we got off the highway mom took this picture and told me "were almost there".  Neither of us had ever been to Sarasota.  We got to the house before mom's daughter did. This is a "Girls' Weekend" mom kept saying, I thought she meant her and I but she meant with her daughter,,,three of us!  When mom and I explored the house she saw this book in our bedroom. She got excited and showed it to me, "I have the same book at home Mea" she told me and added that maybe one day she could take me to go hiki...

Another Beach Walk

Image
We've been home a week now and mom decided that we needed to meet her friend Marian for another sunrise walk on the beach. We get up real early for these walks in the middle of the summer. Today mom got me up at 4:00 am as we need to be in the car by 5:15 and she wants me to have a potty walk and eat breakfast. It is still a little dark when we arrive at the beach at 6:00 am. Mom loves the sunrises where there are sunbeams across the sky.  A little while later the sun came up over the ocean. This was the start of a very hot day.  Of course I posed for mom, I'm getting good at this. I was glad that she had her Camelbak thing because I was thirsty. Since it was so warm, even at this early time, we didn't stay as long as last time.  Like the first time, we saw more sea turtle tracks. Mom wasn't sure this one had laid any eggs as there was no telltale mound. Mom saw this nest staked out way up by the stairs to this house. She said ...
