Labor Day Weekend in Sarasota, Florida

Mom has been a slacker lately and that is why this blog post is late being posted,,sorry.

Anyway, right before Labor Day weekend mom traded in her Hyundai Tucson and got a Nissan Frontier, Crew Cab 4-wheel drive pickup. This was the first time I got to ride in her new truck.

I found it very comfortable riding in the back seat. Mom got this sling thing that kept me from being able to crawl between the front seats, and is waterproof to protect her seats.

Once we got off the highway mom took this picture and told me "were almost there".  Neither of us had ever been to Sarasota.

We got to the house before mom's daughter did. This is a "Girls' Weekend" mom kept saying, I thought she meant her and I but she meant with her daughter,,,three of us!

When mom and I explored the house she saw this book in our bedroom. She got excited and showed it to me, "I have the same book at home Mea" she told me and added that maybe one day she could take me to go hiking there.

Once her daughter arrived we all went for a walk together. Then they started drinking something called Cava and playing this game called dominoes.

I just laid near them listening to all their talking, it was very interesting. Sometimes I wish I could speak in a way that mom could understand me, then I could be part of the conversation.

Sunday morning I woke mom up early. I had to go out, my tummy wasn't feeling good.
After they had coffee mom put me in my crate and they headed off to explore. It was too hot for me to go with them and some places don't allow dogs at all.

Their first stop was at Siesta Key Beach.

After the beach, they got a quick bite to eat, played a round of mini-golf and then went to Siesta Key Rum Distillery for a tasting. Their last stop was at a restaurant right on the water where they had lunch. By then the sky was getting dark so they raced home to get me out before the thunderstorms hit.

They took me out for a long walk while watching the skies for lightening. Once back inside they drank more Cava and played dominoes again. I wanted to play but since I don't have opposable thumbs and I'm not good at counting I couldn't join in the game.

Instead I went and got my duck and played. Mom kept asking me to bring it to her so she could throw it, but I was stubborn and wouldn't listen.

All in all it was a short but fun trip, except for getting diarrhea.

Mom's Comment: Back on our June trip to Alabama Mea'Ola got diarrhea also. When I started packing for out fall trip she got diarrhea yet again. A trip to the vet and she was diagnosed with stress colitis. The vet thinks she is worried I'll abandon her. She now starts taking a mild sedative 14-days before a trip and stops them once we get back home. This saved me from having to walk her in the middle of the night in torrential rains in October. God Bless Dr. Lee at Banfield Animal Hospital for figuring this out.
