Another Beach Walk



We've been home a week now and mom decided that we needed to meet her friend Marian for another sunrise walk on the beach. We get up real early for these walks in the middle of the summer. Today mom got me up at 4:00 am as we need to be in the car by 5:15 and she wants me to have a potty walk and eat breakfast. It is still a little dark when we arrive at the beach at 6:00 am.

Mom loves the sunrises where there are sunbeams across the sky. 



A little while later the sun came up over the ocean. This was the start of a very hot day. 


Of course I posed for mom, I'm getting good at this. I was glad that she had her Camelbak thing because I was thirsty. Since it was so warm, even at this early time, we didn't stay as long as last time. 


Like the first time, we saw more sea turtle tracks. Mom wasn't sure this one had laid any eggs as there was no telltale mound.


Mom saw this nest staked out way up by the stairs to this house. She said this girl was an over achiever.  Good thing this is a winter house for this family or they wouldn't be able to use their private beach access. 


As we drove home mom told me that we might go to the beach again once or twice before our next road trip. Mom rented a house in Sarasota near Siesta Key for Labor day weekend. This trip her daughter is supposed to meet us there for two nights. Just us ladies, no men,  no little people and no Ruby. Mom also tells me this house has a large fenced in yard. I'm looking toward to it. 

Mom is also looking at places for Martin Luther King weekend in January for just her and I.

A Spring Trip to Decatur, GA

Hi everyone, it's spring time and the weather is pretty nice, not too hot yet and no more frosts or freezes for awhile. Since mom's youngest grandchild was close to her first birthday mom thought it would be a great time for a road trip up to Decatur, Georgia to see the birthday girl, Annabelle, and her parents.  A couple of days before the trip, mom's son called to ask what time we would be arriving. Then he added that he had taken Sunday off to spend time with our mom. On Sunday, March 20th we were up at 4:00 am so we could be on the road early. We pulled out of our driveway at 5:30. Mom always adds extra time to our ETA to allow me to take potty walks. She's really good like that. I mean, I could hold it all day like I do when she's at work, but she's says if we're together there is no reason for me to have to hold it. Mom's Annual Birthday Trip 2022

 Hey everyone, it's Mea'Ola and I'm back. I know it's been a while since mom last posted, but her computer died and then every time she had enough money saved up to buy a new laptop, I had to go to the vet and there went all of mom's saved money. Now that I'm healthy and mom's back to normal she can get back to blogging, cooking and taking trips. So, back in June of 2022 mom booked her annual birthday trip, but this time she booked a large house so her daughter, her son in-law and their 3 children could join us. They also brought their dog which created some issues. But on with the story, as you might remember from previous posts, mom likes to take the backroads when possible. Mom's Birthday Trip 2023

Summertime is terribly hot and humid in Florida so mom always heads to the mountains. In 2022 the place she picked wasn't too far north of Atlanta, so it was not cool. In 2023 we went to Mount Airy, North Carolina, not far from the Virginia state line. It was not all cool as mom and I would have liked it to be, but it was better than Florida. Now, an important fact to know about Mount Airy, is it is famous for two things. First, it is the birthplace of Andy Griffith and the town was used as the town of Mayberry in the Andy Griffith Show. Secondly, it is home to the world's largest open air granite quarry. Anyway, mom found this pet friendly place named Lily's Place and the rate was very reasonable. The owners love dogs and your pets are welcome on the sofa and the bed.  Mom loved the sign when we first walked in. I've gotten this vacation stuff down pat, and mom doesn't have to medicate me anymore before we leave on trips. Now I take a nap while she unloads the truc...
