Blue Cypress Park

It's another beautiful weekend in Florida so mom took me on another adventure. This time we walked over to a city park near where we live.

The golf course is mowed, but not really in playing shape. There are walking paths and a fishing pier. We walked down to the fishing pier on the river.  



From the fishing pier we headed out on a long boardwalk. I spied something off to the right and mom said we would check it out on the way back.  



I heard waves on the shore and stopped to listen. We were heading down the boardwalk to the boat area in the photo and then just past that. 

On the way back mom found some stairs and we went down and walked on the beach a little but there were jellyfish so we didn't stay on the riverbank very long.


Mom took this photo towards the fishing pier where we started. This was maybe halfway back to the fishing pier.


As promised mom took me to explore what I had spied on the way out. It was a large picnic pavilion with park benches set at intervals all round the perimeter.  


Once we got back home mom calculated that we had walked about 3 miles. We went and sat on the lanai and relaxed. Mom thinks this photo makes me look really skinny, but I'm not. 


Since this coronavirus thing has all the county beaches and city parks closed mom is trying to figure out where we can go for long, 3-5 mile, weekend walks. Until she figures that out I guess I'll just stay home and play with my toys.

A Spring Trip to Decatur, GA

Hi everyone, it's spring time and the weather is pretty nice, not too hot yet and no more frosts or freezes for awhile. Since mom's youngest grandchild was close to her first birthday mom thought it would be a great time for a road trip up to Decatur, Georgia to see the birthday girl, Annabelle, and her parents.  A couple of days before the trip, mom's son called to ask what time we would be arriving. Then he added that he had taken Sunday off to spend time with our mom. On Sunday, March 20th we were up at 4:00 am so we could be on the road early. We pulled out of our driveway at 5:30. Mom always adds extra time to our ETA to allow me to take potty walks. She's really good like that. I mean, I could hold it all day like I do when she's at work, but she's says if we're together there is no reason for me to have to hold it. Mom's Annual Birthday Trip 2022

 Hey everyone, it's Mea'Ola and I'm back. I know it's been a while since mom last posted, but her computer died and then every time she had enough money saved up to buy a new laptop, I had to go to the vet and there went all of mom's saved money. Now that I'm healthy and mom's back to normal she can get back to blogging, cooking and taking trips. So, back in June of 2022 mom booked her annual birthday trip, but this time she booked a large house so her daughter, her son in-law and their 3 children could join us. They also brought their dog which created some issues. But on with the story, as you might remember from previous posts, mom likes to take the backroads when possible. On this trip we went up through Helen, Georgia. It's a Bavarian style town, really cute but the summer traffic was terrible. Mom's Birthday Trip 2023

Summertime is terribly hot and humid in Florida so mom always heads to the mountains. In 2022 the place she picked wasn't too far north of Atlanta, so it was not cool. In 2023 we went to Mount Airy, North Carolina, not far from the Virginia state line. It was not all cool as mom and I would have liked it to be, but it was better than Florida. Now, an important fact to know about Mount Airy, is it is famous for two things. First, it is the birthplace of Andy Griffith and the town was used as the town of Mayberry in the Andy Griffith Show. Secondly, it is home to the world's largest open air granite quarry. Anyway, mom found this pet friendly place named Lily's Place and the rate was very reasonable. The owners love dogs and your pets are welcome on the sofa and the bed.  Mom loved the sign when we first walked in. I've gotten this vacation stuff down pat, and mom doesn't have to medicate me anymore before we leave on trips. Now I take a nap while she unloads the truc...
