Fall in North Carolina and a New Home, Part 1

Image
Hey everyone, it's me Mea'Ola. I know it has been a long time since my last post but things have been crazy.  Mom found out that she was getting a fraction of the inheritance that she was supposed to get from her mother's estate. She explained it to me and it is a very long story. Anyway, once mom found out she was getting some money she started looking for a home to buy for us.  When she started looking she got pretty stressed out. She checked the online listings every morning and again every evening. Some nights she got home late because she had looked at a place. Or on a weekend she would give me a kiss and run out to look at at house. She came home so depressed that I had to give her lots of extra love and puppy kisses.  One morning she came home and was very excited. "I found us a home Mea!" she told me.  Mom had a lot to do before we could officially buy the home. Two days after mom bought us the house we left on our annual fall vacation.  Both mom and I w...

Fall in North Carolina and New Home, Part 2

When we got home from North Carolina  mom went nuts packing everything up. We had gotten back on the 14th of October and were moving on the 23rd. Mom had a lot to do.  I was unhappy. Mom was busy packing every morning and every night after work. On the 16th and 17th she took truck loads of our stuff to the new house. On the 17th she took me with her as she spent a few hours there getting the kitchen unpacked and set up.   Mom had kept me on my normal dose of Gabapentin from the trip until the move, but that did not help. I got so upset and stressed out that I ate some carpet. These are only 2 of the 6 spots where I ate carpet trying to make my self throw up. Now mom has to pay the rental people almost $700 for the damage I did. She was not happy with me. My vet told mom to increase me Gabapentin dosage and that helped. The morning of our move came. Mom got up really early and we headed over to the house. She walked me and then left me there in my crate. She didn't wa...

A Birthday Trip to Virginia

Image
Hi everyone! As I said in a previous post the courthouses are open for business and mom's work life is getting busy. Since mom had to cancel 4th of July weekend with her daughter and postpone the annual Labor Day Weekend trip she  asked for 3 days off so we could go somewhere for her birthday. After a few hours of searching on VRBO mom found the perfect spot. A small cabin on 7 acres, on top of a mountain in Fries (pronounced freeze), Virginia with no cable, no internet and no satellite. Mom figured it would be the perfect spot to relax and recharge.  This was the start of the road up to the cabin. After 1/2 mile it turned into a gravel road that went up and I mean up to the cabin.    Once I was walked and mom had unloaded the truck and unpacked the cooler and our other food she had her usual bottle of champagne on the back deck.  It was a lovely afternoon and so good to be out of the truck. The drive was only supposed to take 8 hours but due to construction on ...

Mother's Day and Memorial Weekend

Hi everyone!  Now that the Covid-19 mess is getting better, the courthouses here in Florida have started trials again which means mom is really busy at work. She works for a trial attorney. Since there are so many trials coming up starting July 6th through the 1st of October for mom's boss, mom had to make changes in our trip plans.  4th of July at her daughter's house got cancelled for this year and our Annual Girls' Weekend over Labor Day got postponed until next year. But that didn't stop mom from making sure we got to see her family.  Mother's Day weekend we headed down to her daughter's house. As usual I had to stay in the guest room and mom made sure all her munchkins a/k/a 3 grandchildren came in to see me and they all took walks with me. On Mother's Day all the humans went to a polo match. Mom loved it. Here she is with her daughter. A couple of weeks later mom packed us up and we headed to Atlanta, Georgia to meet her newest grandchild. Mom had a ha...
